Terms of Use
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Agent Notifier ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and any future modifications. If you do not agree, do not install or use the App.
2. License
The App is free. There is no payment, no subscription, and no account. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Forinset OÜ grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Agent Notifier on Macs you own or control, for your personal or internal use. You may not resell or redistribute the App as your own.
3. Description of Service
Agent Notifier is a macOS menu-bar app that gives you sound, spoken (text-to-speech), and native banner notifications when a supported AI coding agent changes state — for example, when it finishes a task or when it is waiting for your input or permission. When an agent is waiting for input, the App can keep reminding you until you respond. It works by installing the agents' own hooks, and it makes no network connections.
4. Modifications to Your Agent Configuration
To function, the App modifies your AI coding agent's configuration files to install hooks — for example ~/.claude/settings.json, ~/.cursor/hooks.json, and ~/.codex/config.toml. Before making any change, the App writes a timestamped backup of the original file, and it modifies only the entries it adds. The App also provides an uninstall that surgically removes exactly what it added.
- You are responsible for your own agent configuration files and for keeping your own backups of important work.
- You should review the hooks the App installs if your setup is unusual or heavily customized.
- If you edit these files by hand while hooks are installed, you may need to reinstall or repair them from within the App.
5. Beta Providers
Support for Cursor and Codex is provided in Beta. These integrations currently cover fewer events than Claude Code: Cursor provides "finished" and subagent notifications, and Codex provides "finished" notifications only — neither currently supports "waiting for input" alerts or the keep-reminding loop. Their behavior may change as the underlying hook systems evolve. Claude Code is the fully supported provider.
6. Permissions and Security
- Notifications (optional): Used to display banners. Sound and spoken alerts work without it.
- Launch at Login (optional): Lets the App start when you log in.
- The App does not request Accessibility or Input Monitoring and does not read your keystrokes.
Because it must write your agent configuration files, the App is not sandboxed. It is distributed as a direct download, signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple. See our Privacy Policy for how the App handles data (in short: it collects nothing and transmits nothing).
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code of the App except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits, and not to use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of the terms of the AI coding agents it integrates with.
8. No Warranty
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT EVERY AGENT EVENT WILL BE DETECTED OR THAT EVERY NOTIFICATION WILL BE DELIVERED. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Notifications are a convenience and should not be relied upon as the sole safeguard in any critical workflow.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NEITHER FORINSET OÜ NOR ITS AFFILIATES SHALL BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA OR WORK, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP. BECAUSE THE APP IS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED ZERO EUROS (€0).
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Estonia, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. (Jurisdiction to be confirmed by the stakeholder before publishing.)
11. Updates to the App and These Terms
We may update the App and revise these Terms from time to time. The "Effective Date" above will reflect any change, and continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
